keen to be green
He aint’ heavy, he’s my bottle.
Heavy glass. A clever way to create the perception of quality
through increasing the weight of packaging. And the cost? Energy
consumption… lots of it. Heavy glass takes more energy to create,
transport and dispose of.
Napeequa proudly bottles its wines in Saint-Gobain’s Eco Series
glass. A reduction in weight of 15% compared to the standard wine
bottle. Saint-Gobain’s plant is located in the SODO district of Seattle,
WA. So doing business with Saint-Gobain conserves energy and
supports our sate economy.
Swirling and sipping depends on seeds and saplings.
Our barrels and cork closures come from companies who are
on the forefront of sustainable forest management practices.
What goes in equals what comes out.
Seeing the light.
Our cellar now uses compact tubular, low-mercury fluorescent lights
that offer higher lumens for lower wattage. Twenty-three watts doing
the job of one hundred… to be exact. Incandescence is in the dark.
Back in the game.
We recycle all spent bottles from our tasting room along with their
corrugated cardboard boxes. We reuse all foam peanuts we receive
from vendor’s packaging in our wine shipment program.
